A glamorous, ruthless attorney has captured the attention of millions watching the Johnny Depp v Amber Heard defamation case. Online, she is praised for her "annihilation" of Heard's defence. Rumours are rife she's in a relationship with the Pirates of the Caribbean star.

Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard over an op-ed she wrote in the Washington Post in 2018 alleging she'd suffered domestic violence. She never mentioned Depp but he says the article was obviously about him. Depp is suing for US$50m ($68m) Heard is counter suing for US$100m ($138m)

Who is Camille Vasquez?

Vasquez is an associate at high-profile law firm Brown Rudnick. She specialises in litigation and arbitration. Little is known about her previous cases. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern Carolina. She was named “One to Watch” by The Best Lawyers in America for 2021-2022. Oh, and she speaks Spanish.

What is she doing in the Depp trial?

Making bank, apparently. It is widely reported the attorney has a net worth of US$1.5m, and is set to rake way more if Depp's trial is successful. Known as “the Queen of objections”, Vasquez caught the eye of viewers after turning up to court in all white. How has Vasquez acted in court?

What are the TikTokkers saying?

They’re loving it. Her pointed, rapid-fire questions have left Heard stunned, and footage of her crushing interruptions to the opposing legal team’s counter-attacks have amassed almost a billion views on TikTok.

Johnny-stans have declared Vasquez to be a “badass”, often making comparisons between the attorney and Heard’s lawyer Elaine Bredehoft. At one point while Bredehoft was questioning Heard, Vasquez called multiple objections, leaving the lawyer so exasperated, she could only offer: “I’m trying.”

Are Vasquez and Depp dating?

A video of Vasquez and Depp hugging in court also went viral, as did another of her leaving the court, offering a giggle when asked if she was dating Depp. Another clip was released showing the attorney say “No, no” when repeatedly asked if her and Depp were involved.
