The day I took a bullet to the head

Words: Bridget CormackProducer: Louise Starkey

The Weekend Australian Review's Bridget Cormack joined the Wyrmwood: Apocalypse cast to see what it takes to make a low-budget Aussie horror film.

Director and producer

It's being shot on a property 54km north of Sydney.

About 60 people are in the daily cast and crew, including actors Luke McKenzie and Shantae Barnes-Cowan.

Wyrmwood: Apocalypse's predecessor was “the most pirated film in the world” at one point and reached No. 1 on US Netflix.

The experience gave Cormack the chance to follow in the footsteps of Luke, who plays special forces soldier Rhys.

Cormack discovered the living dead's costumes were made from pre-loved op-shop and department store clothes.

Pretty good for someone with zero acting experience, hey?
