Consumers now have even more options when shopping for a holiday bargain following Qantas‘s purchase of a controlling stake in online travel business TripADeal.

Under the arrangement, Qantas Frequent Flyers can use points to book package holidays while receiving three points for every dollar spent through the site.

The Byron Bay-based company offers both local and international multi-day tours, cruises and package holidays ranging from a three-day self-drive tour of Fraser Island to a 30-night African cruise.

Travellers can split the cost between Frequent Flyer points and cash, with the offer also extended to packages that include flights with other international airlines.

“We know that the number one thing people want to spend those points on is travel,” says Qantas Group chief executive Alan Joyce. “That’s why the opportunities that TripADeal opens up for our frequent flyers will be so positive.”
