Trek the desert of dreams
Take a camel safari through a land of ancient cultures.
Ride through the vast desert of Ladakh, the far north Trans-Himalayan region of India, in the tracks of the traders of Central Asia on the historical Silk Road.
On a camel safari, you will be riding the same kind of beast those travellers considered as their lifeline.
The Bactrian is distinguished by two humps instead of one, which creates a naturally snug and more comfortable saddle. Safaris usually traverse the Nubra Valley between Hundar village and Diskit and can be from one to several days.
En route, take in breathtaking views of the valleys and the ancient culture of quiet villages while lulled by the slow rhythmical gait of your trusty mount. Nights are spent under canvas and gazing at the blanket of stars over generally clear skies. Tours are available from mid-June to September.
