Heritage Expeditions has launched four new voyages in Fiordland on the 18-guest expedition yacht Heritage Explorer. Ranging from five to 10 days, the itineraries visit Milford and Doubtful sounds plus lesser-known waterways. The longest voyage delves into the region’s gold-mining, whaling and forestry past, with the chance to spot native birds, seals and dolphins.

Wild Bush Luxury, which runs the Maria Island Walk in Tasmania plus Arkaba Conservancy in South Australia and Bamurru Plains in the Northern Territory, has been bought by adventure tourism entity Experience Co. Charles Carlow, who founded the luxe company in 2006, will stay on in the business. Experience Co offers activities such as skydiving and reef tours from Cairns to Melbourne and Queenstown.

The work of acclaimed artist Bruce Munro, whose Field of Light installation at Uluru has been an enormous success, will be on show at Heide Museum of Modern Art in Melbourne. The exhibition will be the first museum showcase of his work in Australia; from June 12 to October 17.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is encouraging midweek stays with savings of 50 per cent on selected campgrounds and discounts of 25 per cent on cabins and cottages. Included in the offer are Cape Byron’s Assistant Lighthouse Keepers’ Cottages and the Gloucester River campground at Barrington Tops National Park; for travel to September 16.
