Just a short stroll from the buzz of Constitution Dock via the pretty gardens of Franklin Square is the newly opened Movenpick Hobart Hotel.

The 221 guestrooms feature an earthy palette of greys and burnt orange with timber accents, and many have sweeping views over the city to the Derwent. Accommodation is in three categories, with the added option of a spacious suite. It’s a little bit Swiss (there’s a daily chocolate hour at 4pm) and a little bit Italian (dine on fine Tasmanian produce at Tesoro restaurant).

Part of the Accor stable, this is the first Movenpick hotel in Australia. From $325 a night for two, with cheese platter and wine on arrival and 3pm checkout.
