Singapore’s hawker fare finds an airline market

We’re missing the sights, smells and tastes of Singapore’s food markets, where the smoke from hot woks blends with a heady mix of Asian spices.

We’re missing the sights, smells and tastes of Singapore’s hawker markets, where the smoke from hot grills and woks blends with a heady mix of peanut, coconut, chilli and Asian spices.

Chinese, Malay and Indian cuisine are all represented in these multicultural hubs, where patrons perch on stools, pay a pittance but eat like kings. For those able to travel internationally, Singapore Airlines is introducing more hawker fare to its in-flight menus as part of an initiative to support well-known brands in the city-state.

Chicken rice from Boon Tong Kee will be available on outbound services while a special floral fragrance by perfume label Scent by SIX will be used at key locations for airline customers.

Meanwhile, Australians can only hope the dream of a Singapore bubble becomes a reality soon.
