It’s official: These are the best business class airlines for 2023
The Skytrax World Airline Awards is considered the ‘Oscars of aviation’. If you plan to fly at the pointy end, these are the airlines to choose.
Flying business class can be a dream, but when you’re paying a premium for a seat and service, there is also a high expectation. Fortunately, with business class travel bouncing back strongly since the pandemic, airlines have been upping their game.
The Skytrax Awards, which began in 1999, are considered the Oscars of the aviation world, with the winners chosen via a passenger voting system. This year’s awards were announced this week at a gala event held in the Air and Space Museum at the Paris Air Show, with Qatar being voted World’s Best Business Class Airline.
The Middle Eastern carrier also won World‘s Best Business Class Airline Lounge and World’s Best Business Class Lounge Dining.
Singapore Airlines took out the title of World’s Best Airline, while AirAsia won World’s Best Low-Cost Airline again, having taken out the award each year since 2010.
Antipodean airlines didn’t make a splash this year, with Qantas ranked 17th on the World’s Best Arlines list, behind Fiji Airways and Iberia, while Air New Zealand placed 19th.
“It is a fabulous achievement for Singapore Airlines to achieve this World’s Best Airline title for 2023,” said Edward Plaisted of Skytrax. “Singapore Airlines achieved excellent results in many of the award categories, with the highlight being recognition of their First Class cabin as the World’s Best First Class. We congratulate Singapore Airlines on this success which should be a source of great pride and satisfaction for the airline management and staff.”
