Peter Hendrie’s epic Tasmanian sea voyage

PHOTOGRAPHER Peter Hendrie’s voyage around Tasmania has been vividly captured in his new book.

One man’s Tasmania

“YOU are mad, you are bloody mad,” photographer Peter Hendrie’s mates told him as he revealed plans to sail his 12m catamaran yacht, Rosebud, around the coast of Tasmania.

“My sailing experience was limited to having chartered yachts in the Whitsunday Islands of Queensland in the previous years,” Hendrie says.

“I wanted to sail around and explore the rugged coast of Tasmania and to photograph it from the sea. This would complement the photographs I had taken of Tasmania from the air.”

The result is a delightful 200-page hardcover book Voyage Around Tasmania, self-published and packed with pictures of the state’s coast, islands and river systems. Not such a mad mission after all.
