The family-run By Myconian Collection, which opened its first hotel on the island of Mykonos more than 40 years ago, will add an 11th property this May. The first in the portfolio to claim absolute beach frontage, O By Myconian Collection offers direct access to the sands of Ornos Bay, one of the destination’s most beautiful beaches, with a requisite collection of charming bars and quaint restaurants, just 3km from Mykonos Town. Mykonos can be reached from Athens by air or high-speed ferry.

The resort features 65 guestrooms and suites (some with private pools), all with private furnished verandas or balconies. The fit-out is typically Greek Isle-style with tactile interiors featuring cool stone floors, beds decked in natural linens, rattan chairs and bedside tables hewn from reclaimed timbers.

Restaurants include a relaxed pool bar and the fine dining Baloo, focusing on local seafood. The very cool pool deck, furnished with shaded sunbeds by day, morphs into a live music spot after dark. Or guests are welcome to lounge on the beach whistling up snacks and drinks from the pool bar. Hotel facilities include a gym, which offers private training sessions, as well as the inviting DTOX day spa with an events calendar that includes full moon yoga on the beach.

The Daktylides family business, today run by brothers Vangelis, Panos, Marios and Markos, helped pioneer tourism on the island when their father George dug the foundations of the family’s first hotel on a second-hand digger in the late 1970s. Last year the family opened hotel number 10, Panoptis Escape, perched hilltop above Elia Beach and a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

Rooms from $990 including champagne American breakfast buffet. Special rates with 15 per discount and transfers valid to October 31.
