Perched over the sparkling Indian Ocean on North Male Atoll, the new Jumeirah Maldives will welcome its first guests next month.
The resort comprises 67 beach and over-water villas ranging from one to three bedrooms, each with its own private infinity pool, cool cabana and rooftop terrace with dining area.
With hot pink shade sails and outdoor cushions contrasting with whitewashed walls, timber decks and turquoise water, Jumeirah Maldives has a chic, contemporary look.
There are two restaurants – Kayto, serving the Peruvian-Japanese fusion Nikkei cuisine, and Shimmers, the Mediterranean-style beach club – while Talise Spa has six overwater treatment rooms.
Jumeirah Maldives is the United Arab Emirates-based hotel group’s foray into the honeymoon hotspot. The owner of Dubai’s towering Burj Al Arab, it has properties in the Middle East, London, China, Italy and Spain and plans to open a resort in Bali soon.
