British Airways business class review
The new Club Suites promise comfort and privacy with cocoon-like pods and hidden design details. Here’s our verdict.
All about the seat With a compartment-style sliding door, Qatar’s Q Suite has to be the most comfortable business-class nook of any airline. If flying as a couple, adjoining centre seats can be turned into a bed, but otherwise a large screen provides complete privacy. Rows alternate as forward or reverse facing so be sure to book the former if flying backwards doesn’t appeal. Seats lie completely flat, with press-button controls, lighting in three settings, power outlets and a quality quilt that matches the cabin’s aubergine colour scheme.

And so to dine Dishes from the a la carte or light options menus can be ordered at any time; a mezze plate of three dips, flat breads and desserts in rosewater syrup nod to the airline’s homeland. Other dishes are of the usual meat-seafood-veg line-up, although the afternoon tea service, with finger sandwiches, warm scones, clotted cream and berry jam, is a real treat. There are two French champagnes, a non-alcoholic pink bubbly, five mocktails, espressos and about a dozen Dilmah tea blends.

That’s entertainment I get hooked on the mesmerising Flight Path channel, with cockpit footage and a world clock display plus the pitch and roll topography of the Arabian Gulf. HBO boxed sets are offered, Hollywood hits and an excellent world movies channel.
-
Brickbats With the exception of sunny Priya from Kolkata, service is perfunctory and announcements from the flight desk rather brusque.

Bouquets Lavatories, with full-length mirrors and replenished dental and shaving kits, are immaculate and seemingly cleaned and spritzed after every use. Cotton pyjamas from London’s The White Company and leather toiletries kits by Italian brand Bric, stocked with olive-based Castello Monte Vibiano Vecchio skincare items, are well above average. Complimentary one-hour Wi-Fi and then a reasonable connectivity fee.
