Fiji travel news: hotels and resorts roll out package deals
Fiji is opening up to Australians on December 1. Here are the latest travel deals for the island nation.
Fiji’s announcement that it is opening to Australian tourists from December 1 has sparked a flurry of travel bargains at the island nation’s hotels and resorts.
Here are some accommodation options and how much they cost.
* Stay four nights at the Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa on Denarau Island from $1099 a person, including Fiji Airways flights, accommodation, meals and transfers. For a family of four (two adults and two children) the same resort has four-night stays with flights from $2559. This five-star resort is part of a resort development on the western side of Fiji’s main island of Viti Levu, not far from Nadi. It has undergone significant renovations during the pandemic and has a new adults-only poolside dining experience.
* InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, overlooking Natadola Bay on Viti Levu, has four-night stays from $1149 a person, including flights, accommodation, meals and transfers. It boasts a spa with aquatherapy facilities plus a par 72 championship-standard golf course with a clubhouse built in traditional South Pacific style.
* Flight Centre has a seven-night package at Outrigger Fiji on Viti Levu that includes seven nights in an ocean view king room, daily breakfast, two 60-minute spa vouchers and Talai (a traditional butler) service. There are multiple accommodation options from modern hotel rooms to bure-style. From $989 a person (flights extra), book by October 31.
* Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay has the only overwater bungalows on Viti Levu. Its Romantic Getaway Package includes daily breakfast, a 60-minute couple’s spa treatment and a welcome bottle of sparkling wine. From $F659 ($430) a room a night for Marriott loyalty members. The resort is a short boat ride from popular scuba diving sites and the Cloudbreak surf spot.
* Vomo Island has a seven-night Unlimited Romance package that includes a beachfront villa for two, all meals and non-alcoholic beverages, cultural and watersports experiences, and return transfers by private vehicle and speedboat from Nadi airport. A private beach dinner, sunset cruise and exclusive island picnic are also part of the mix. $F15,150 ($9840) a couple; rates for this deal also offered in other accommodation categories.
* Navutu Stars Resort, a boutique property in the idyllic Yasawa Islands, has 10 spacious villa-style bures spread across three beaches. A five-night accommodation package with flights includes daily breakfast and dinner, nightly cocktail, one massage per person, village trip and snorkelling tour costs from $2559 for two adults; for travel to June 15, 2023.

What you need to know:
Fiji is open only to travellers who are fully vaccinated. Everyone over 18 must show their vaccination certificate, and all travellers over 12 need evidence of a negative Covid test taken no more than 72 hours before departure.
On arrival, guests are taken to their hotel or resort, where they have to take a rapid Covid test and wait within the property’s boundaries until they receive a negative result (about 48 hours).
Visitors are also required to download the CareFiji app for the contact-tracing purposes.
