Change is as good as a (luxe) holiday
Travel + Indulgence is changing tack and we’re taking our adventures near and far up a notch.
See what we did there? We replaced the word “Indulgence” with “Luxury”, and what a perfect fit it feels for our discerning, travel-savvy readers.
We’ve always had our eye on the finer things in life at The Weekend Australian. We like plush hotel rooms, top-notch cuisine and all-you-could-wish-for cruise ships.
We like expert guides to enrich our travel experiences, and while we’re at it how about some VIP treatment, a bit of bling and pampering plus a dose of soft adventure in the great outdoors – with a warm bed to retreat to at night, naturally?
So what’s changed? Well, not a lot (there’s no need to reinvent the wheel, after all) but we are taking our travel up a notch. If COVID-19 has given us anything, it’s a carpe diem perspective. It’s time to live it up and embrace the present, because who knows what’s around the corner?
With that in mind, we’re focusing more keenly on lifestyle; expect more on restaurants, bars, spas, wineries, boutiques. We’re taking you inside some of Australia’s most covetable holiday homes with a new series called In Residence.
We’re discovering all that’s hot and oh-so-cool from the city to the country in On the Radar. And our usual in-depth coverage continues with destination features, hotel reviews, weekly deals, Perfect 10s, Fab Fours, Spend It – the whole kit and caboodle.
As the prospect of international travel looms closer (give our Kiwi friends a wave), we’ll turn our gaze to more distant locations too.
And, after a long hiatus, our entertaining Follow the Reader competition is back by popular demand.
Most excitingly, this weekend’s inaugural T+L edition is a taste of what’s to come. Next Friday, The Australian launches Travel + Luxury, a glossy quarterly magazine chock-full of great ideas for domestic explorers, overseas temptations for dreamers and splashes of fashion, food, tech, beauty and art.
Step inside designer Collette Dinnigan’s gorgeous home in the Southern Highlands, drool over jaw-dropping New Zealand lodges, be transported to Antarctica’s other worldliness and flit to Kyoto for Japanese culture.
Created by News Corp’s talented prestige magazine and travel team, the journal also includes stories by The Australian’s Associate Editor [Travel] Susan Kurosawa and yours truly.
It’s all part of ensuring we deliver readers of The Australian the latest, most pertinent and inspirational travel information and ideas for adventures near and far.
