CEO, Freelancer.com

ONE of the most vocal members of Australia's technology industry, Matt Barrie has not been afraid to speak his mind about the state of it and those people running and regulating it.

He does so from a solid basis of credibility, with his online outsourcing service Freelancer.com reporting revenue growth that recently hit $66m. Freelancer.com now has more than 270 staff and offices in Sydney, Manila, London, Buenos Aires and Jakarta, and Barrie's goal is to make Freelancer.com the "eBay for jobs".

Barrie has also been a keen advocate for technology entrepreneurship and the promotion of computer science as a career path at high school, and teaches a technology venture creation course at the University of Sydney which he is keen to expand. He is also seeking to set up a free online education program for high school students to give them a basic understanding of computer science.
