Miles Teller has finally achieved Super Stud status
'Don't take your girlfriend to see Top Gun: Maverick'
The actor has abandoned his "dorky best friend" typecast, and is now a dreamboat in his own right.
While the attractiveness of Miles Teller is objective, this story is an opinion piece.
A young Miles Teller dreamed of having the career of the “ugly” guys of Hollywood. Men like Sean Penn, Dustin Hoffman or Robert De Niro.
“I know there’s nothing handsome about me,” he told Italian Vogue in 2015.
That same year Esquire journalist Anna Peel described the actor as “not being the best-looking, or sometimes even the third-best-looking, guy in any given movie he’s in.”
Methinks Ms Peel may be eating her words.
The 35 year old has caught the attention of billions of TikTok users through a particularly steamy performance in Top Gun Maverick.
Starring alongside Tom Cruise, Jon Hamm and Glen Powell, one might think Teller may fade into the background.
But in a scene that hints at the original movie’s iconic volleyball sequence, the fighter pilots face off in a game of beach football, shirtless and glistening.
Teller’s now-iconic casual victory dance walks the line between incredibly goofy and incredibly erotic. Cloaked in a sepia hue, the moustached lieutenant wiggles his torso - a snippet posted countless times to TikTok accompanied by "Take My Breath Away" from the original film.
“Don’t take your girlfriend to see Top Gun Maverick,” most videos are captioned.
Teller was once a classic example of the Pete Davidson effect. A funny guy, whose inherent charisma oozes a certain degree of charm, but never destined to grace People’s Sexiest Man Alive list.
However, he’s no longer just a likeable comedian, typecast as the quirky looking best friend to the hot male lead. He has eclipsed himself, casting a shadow over his formerly forgettable presence in films like The Spectacular Now (2013) or Footloose (2011).
And he isn't only being noticed for his good looks. Teller's talents on the piano have been featured in the latest film after he insisted on playing the keys himself during the “Great Balls of Fire” scene.
His wife is loving it
The actor's wife, Keleigh Teller, has joined in on the fun, making fan-style content to boast about her husband. “We’re all Team Rooster here… thirst on,” she captioned one of her videos.
The pair were married in 2019 in Maui, after meeting at a party for the Black Keys six years earlier.
“We both had mutual friends of the band,” Miles told Vogue.
“Keleigh had caught my eye early in the night, and we talked. I didn’t think it went well, but after a few more attempts, I got her to dance with me, and a week later, we went on a date. After we met, I knew she was the one.”
His wife remembers things a little bit differently: “He was so charming and charismatic,” she recalls. “I adored him from the first moment we met.”

Footloose (2011)
Sporting a western accent and a perma-baseball cap, Teller appears in Footloose as the male lead's dorky best friend who has no idea how to dance. Loveable, to say the least.
Two Night Stand (2014)
A couple of unlucky in love singles get trapped in a house together after an awkward one night stand. Surprisingly, they fall in love.
That Awkward Moment (2014)
Teller stars (predictably) alongside certified hotties Zac Efron and Michael B. Jordan as their dorky third friend. He's very funny in this.
Divergent (2014)
Teller plays the antagonist opposite Shailene Woodley. He's cruel, antagonistic, ill-tempered and disgruntled. And still a looker.
War Dogs (2016)
Teller teams up with Jonah Hill as two best friends who become international arms dealers. Admittedly, I've never seen it, but it has a 7.1/10 on IMDB so must be sort of okay?
