HER trophy cabinet could overshadow many of those held by her male counterparts, but for golfer Karrie Webb it's not all about reward.
Australia's most successful female golfer, and one of the top players in the history of women's golf, Webb has given up an enormous amount of her time and money to help charities and those most in need.
She was this year recognised in the Australia Day Honours for her service to golf, and to the community as a benefactor and supporter of a range of health and disability organisations.
Webb, 35, becomes a Member of the Order of Australia (AM), one of 141 prominent Australians chosen for the title this year.
Her charitable work includes funding and hosting the Karrie Webb Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament in support of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, participating annually for no fee in the major fundraising event LIFE that raises funds to eradicate breast cancer and funding a new cinema in her home town of Ayr in Queensland.
On the golf course, Webb set the bar high for women. A professional golfer for 16 years, Webb spent four of those at the No 1 spot and is currently ranked eighth in the women's world golf rankings.
She has had 40 tournament wins worldwide, including the Australian Women's Open and the Australian Ladies Masters. and seven major championship wins.
