Wallabies v Springboks, Perth, live updates, results: Australia v South Africa Rugby Championships
It was a tough game in tougher conditions, but again South Africa has proved just how big the gap in class between the Springboks and Wallabies really is.
Technical issues plagued the Wallabies in their first-up smattering at the hands of the world champion Springboks at Suncorp Stadium, but the skipper has vowed it’s an area they will clean up before walking into a potentially hostile Optus Stadium in Perth.
The Wallabies are out for redemption after a 34-7 pasting at the hands of South Africa at the first sold-out Australia test at Brisbane in a decade.
And while the game may be on Australian soil, a heavy South African presence is expected to make things even more difficult for Joe Schmidt’s men.
At the heart of the Wallabies’ issues were technical difficulties in the scrum, which allowed the world champions to dominate the Australian pack., but captain Allan Alaalatoa vowed the team would fix them before Saturday’s clash.
The Springboks have made 10 changes from last week’s record-equalling win, and are led by Salmaan Moerat, the first Muslim to captain South Africa.
