Wallabies v Ireland: Brandon Paenga-Amosa and Caleb Timu named in Test side
Michael Cheika has named two uncapped players in the side to play at Suncorp Stadium this Saturday night.
Queensland Reds players Brandon Paenga-Amosa and Caleb Timu have been handed debuts in the Wallabies side to play Ireland at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.
And there could well be another debut if Pete Samu, who was brought in from New Zealand and the Crusaders, earns a start in the backrow.
Paenga-Amosa, the Reds hooker and Timu, the number eight, have had storming seasons for the Queensland side and had truly earned the places in a strong Australian combination.
The other contentious positions have been filled by Izack Rodda (second-row), Samu Kerevi (outside centre) and Dane Haylett-Petty who, despite having played little football this season for the Melbourne Rebels, has beaten Reece Hodge for the wing berth.
Timu certainly will bring balance to the Australian backrow which has two specialist open side flankers, Michael Hooper and David Pocock filling the seven and six jersies.
Michael Cheika has named a 6-2 bench, with Hodge able to fill any one of the backline positions, save for halfback.
