They hold some of the most important positions in Australian sport - but who wields the most power? We reveal all in this year’s Power 100.
After a historic year for women’s sport in Australia with World Cups that captivated the country, News Corp’s annual Power 100 list for the most powerful and influential women in Australian sport has delivered some shock results.
While the role of women in high-ranking sporting administration continues to rise, power and influence comes in many forms from controlling multimillion-dollar budgets to shaping the views of our next generation of superstar athletes via performance or even social media.
What is clear from the success of the Matildas in 2023 is that nothing captures attention or gets more young people involved in sport than champion athletes themselves who humbly deliver world class performances on sport’s grandest stage.
This year the Olympics and Paralympics will take global stage and Australian athletes will be at the forefront of those performances.
News Corp’s Power 100 list recognises those athletes who we know will create history, be vocal advocates for issues in sport and influence the next generation with performances over the next year whilst highlighting the incredible work done off the field from women who are shaping Australian sport behind the scenes every day of their working life.
