Athletes blitzing the fashion field at Tokyo Olympics.

It’s getting hot at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo and not just because of the sizzling times the female athletics competitors are racking up.

The Jamaican and American athletes, along with competitors from some of the African nations, have blitzed the fashion field, with waist-length hair, colourful wigs, weaves, bright nails and gravity-defying eyelashes.

Jamaican speedster Elaine Thompson-Herah was sporting a magnificent gold ponytail when she won the gold in the 100m sprint on Saturday.

At her medal ceremony the next day, she showed off long black locks on the podium.

US Olympic debutante and Wonder Woman-lookalike Gabrielle “Gabby’’ Thomas won legions of fans when she booked a place in the 200m semi finals in stunning style, long hair flowing down her back.

As well as being one of the fastest women on the planet and having model looks, Thomas is a Harvard graduate who studied neurobiology and global health at the prestigious Ivy League school, and is now doing her Masters in epidemiology at the University of Texas.
