Someone stop the fight because no-one can stop Kaylee McKeown.

The Aussie super swimmer has just broken another world record overnight – achieving a feat so rare that no woman in history has ever done the same.

Unbeatable in every distance she competes, the Queenslander has smashed the 50 metre backstroke world record at the World Cup in Budapest.

Her sizzling time of 26.86 seconds carved 0.12 off the previous record set by China’s Liu Xiang at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.

“I am super stoked with that,” she said.

“The only thing I can keep doing is training hard and keep believing in myself and believing in my coach.

“I never saw myself as a sprinter so it’s really nice to have that under my belt.

“Next year is going to be a really tough year so the more confidence I can build, the better. I have been surprising myself since Berlin. I have been trying to do a couple of things differently and I am pleased that they are working.”

The 22-year-old McKeown already holds the 100m and 200m backstroke world records and is the first woman ever to complete the full set.

Only one man has ever done the treble, American legend Lenny Krayzelburg – but that was before the turn of the last century.

McKeown won gold medals in each of three backstroke races at this year’s world championships in Fukuoka, where she was named best female swimmer of the meet – and is on track to defend her 100m and 200m titles at next Paris Olympics.

The 50m is not on the Olympic program but she also swims medley and relay.
