Triple M names radio team to replace sacked host Marty Sheargold in wake of Matildas comments

A host of NRL identities will dominate Triple M’s new-look broadcast team for The Rush Hour in the wake of Marty Sheargold axing over his criticism of the Matildas.

Triple M has revealed its broadcast team for The Rush Hour to replace Marty Sheargold, who was sacked from his afternoon radio slot over his criticism of the Matildas.

Veteran broadcaster Anthony Maroon, Parramatta Eels legend Nathan Hindmarsh and sports journalist Adam Peacock will start on the new show on Monday, April 28.

Ben Dobbin will launch the Brisbane version of the show, which will run from 4-7pm and cover sport and lifestyle issues.

The show will also feature NRLW stars Keeley Davis and Millie Elliott.

Maroon is a long-time host and match day commentator on Triple M and a man renowned for his sharp wit and love for the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Hindmarsh, a popular member of the The Matty Johns Show on Fox Sports, is fast proving to be a popular radio commentator, who also works for the network on Saturday afternoons.

Davis and Elliott are Sydney Roosters teammates, however the latter will miss the 2025 NRLW season as she and husband, Newcastle Knights forward Adam Elliott, are expecting their first child together in September.

The Rush Hour used to feature dual international Wendell Sailor, Sydney Swans great Jude Bolton, broadcaster Gus Worland and Ironwoman Candice Warner, but was taken off air at the end of last year.

Comedian Sheargold was axed in February after Triple M said they had “mutually agreed to part ways” after his comments on the Matildas.

“You know what they remind me of? Year 10 girls,” Sheargold said.

“All the infighting and all the friendship issues, ‘the coach hates me and I hate bloody training and Michelle’s being a bitch’.

“Now I’m sorry to undermine the whole sport, but that’s what I think of it so you can stick it up your arse.”
