Queensland forwards Jeremiah Nanai and Beau Fermor will walk a tightrope to avoid missing a State of Origin game through suspension over the next few weeks after being hit with fines for second offences from Saturday’s games.

The two firebrands will need to be on their best behaviour to stay in the mix heading into Origin II on June 18.

The NRL’s match review committee has charged Nanai with a grade 1 crusher tackle on the Tigers’ Mason Heath.

It carries a fine of $3000 for an early guilty plea or a two-game ban if he fights the charge at the judiciary, but a third and subsequent offence will see him face a three to four game suspension.

Fermor can accept an $1800 fine with an early guilty plea for a grade one careless high tackle on Melbourne’s Tyran Wishart, but that bumps out to a $3000 fine for another charge of the same grade, or potential game time.

The Titans play Brisbane next week, while the Cowboys take on Melbourne before Origin teams are picked.
