It’s almost four months to the day the Bears come out of hibernation and straight into hunting season, ready to pounce on any player entering the final year of their contracts.
And that list could even expand, with Selwyn Cobbo’s recent one-year deal with the Dolphins a genuine sign that players are timing their deals to coincide with Perth’s arrival.
It means clubs are already under pressure to lock in their lock in their best talent, a cohort that includes the likes of Payne Haas, Luke Metcalf, Jarome Luai and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui.
