The Dolphins’ massive win in the Battle of Brisbane has come at a cost, with experienced forward Felise Kaufusi hit with a multiple game suspension for a late shot on Broncos captain Adam Reynolds.
The Dolphins have suffered a huge blow ahead of next week’s must win clash against Newcastle after experienced forward Felise Kaufusi was whacked with a two-week ban.
Kaufusi must challenge the grade two dangerous contact charge at the judiciary and win to be available for selection against the Knights.
If Kaufusi loses at the judiciary he is facing three weeks on the sidelines.
Kaufusi was sin-binned for his late shot on Brisbane halfback Adam Reynolds during the Dolphins’ 40-6 win over the Broncos in Saturday’s Battle of Brisbane showdown.
The untimely ban not only leaves Wayne Bennett without an experienced charger for the decisive clash against the Knights, but also looking for a backrow replacement.
Kenny Bromwich is an option to replace Kaufusi in the starting side.
The Broncos have their own woes in the forwards after rising prop Xavier Willison was hit with a grade two careless high tackle charge for a high shot on Ray Stone.
Willison’s suspension opens the door for the likes of Kobe Hetherington and Fletcher Baker to earn a re-call into the NRL side for Brisbane’s huge clash against Melbourne.
