The Wests Tigers have confirmed the imminent departure of chair Marina Go and announced former director Simon Cook will take over as interim chief executive until the return of Justin Pascoe.

Go has been chair of the Tigers since 2014 but will leave once the club finds a new independent director.

“I look forward to the start of the 2019 NRL season and will have the opportunity to speak with our sponsors and members before my formal departure from the club,” Go said.

“I have no doubt that with a passionate board, a talented and dedicated executive team, a premiership-winning coach and excellent staff as well as a quality playing roster, Wests Tigers remain in good hands who will ensure the success of this club in to the future.”

Cook will step into the chief executive’s role until Pascoe returns in June and said he was looking forward to his new interim role to help with the club’s stability over the coming months.

“I have really enjoyed my time as part of the Board of Wests Tigers,” said Cook.

“I now look forward to working with our partners over this interim period to further assist with the stability of the club until Justin’s return.”

Go informed the Wests Tigers Board in December of her intention to step down following the end of maximum four-year tenure on the board.

Go’s tenure was extended in order to assist in leading the club and Wests Tigers board through the recent salary cap process with the NRL, which was resolved late last week.

In her time as chair, Go has led the club through a period of substantial economic improvement and led major governance improvements that have provided Wests Tigers with a period of extremely strong off-field stability.

“Marina has done a tremendous job over the past four-and-a-half years and she will be greatly missed by everyone within the Wests Tigers organisation,” Cook said.
