Leading NRL player agent stripped of accreditation
Leading player agent Isaac Moses having his accreditation cancelled by the NRL.
John Bateman’s contract uncertainty has hit another roadblock with leading player agent Isaac Moses having his accreditation cancelled by the NRL.
Moses is one of the most high-profile agents in the game whose client list includes Bateman, Cameron Smith, Josh Hodgson, David Klemmer and Aaron Woods.
He was subject to an investigation regarding a spat with former Parramatta forward Tim Mannah.
The NRL said Moses had “breached his obligations as an accredited agent in 2017”.
It goes on to allege Moses breached the rules “by procuring and assisting one of his clients, Tim Mannah, to give evidence to the NRL that was false and intended to mislead an investigation of the NRL Integrity and Compliance Unit”.
He was first breached last December and vowed to clear his name.
Moses announced he would appeal the decision.
“Cove Agency continues to deny all allegations made against Isaac Moses by the National Rugby League,” Moses’ company said in a statement.
“We will be appealing the decision and reserve our rights to challenge any finding by the National Rugby League in a court of law.”
If leave to appeal is granted his accreditation will continue to be recognised until notified by the NRL.
NRL boss Andrew Abdo said “player agents have a very influential role in the game and with the players they represent”.
“Where agents fail to adhere to the standards expected of them, we will intervene to take action under the NRL rules,” Abdo said. “That is what we have done in this case after a thorough investigation by the league’s Integrity and Compliance Unit.”
Moses also has a host of coaches in his stable including Anthony Griffin, Adam O’Brien, Stephen Kearney and Kevin Walters.
Player agent Gavin Orr had his appeal against his accreditation being cancelled dismissed by the NRL appeals committee in April.
