That’s a wrap on the 2024 Dally M awards night.
Jahrome Hughes has been crowned the 2024 Dally M Player of the Year, securing the win by a single point over James Tedesco.
Hughes’ victory was only secured in the final round. Kiwi players Will Warbrick, Eli Katoa and Joseph Tapine performed an impromptu haka to celebrate Hughes’ win.

Roosters star Olivia Kernick secured top honours in the NRLW, winning by two points.

There is little surprise that grand finalists Melbourne and Penrith dominated the team of the year with five combined players making the best side of 2024.
Four clubs from outside the top eight (Dragons, Warriors, Raiders and Dolphins) also had representation while the Roosters were the only other side outside of the grand finalists to have two players picked.
Fellow finalists the Sea Eagles and Sharks were overlooked for selection.
FULLBACK OF THE YEAR
Winner: James Tedesco
Nominees: Dylan Edwards, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow,James Tedesco
Verdict: Little has split Edwards and Tedesco this season after the Panthers fullback snatched Tedesco’s NSW jersey. However, Tedesco produced one of his best seasons in recent years and could now keep his Kangaroos fullback spot.
WINGERS OF THE YEAR
Winners: Zac Lomax, Brian To’o
Nominees: Alofiana Khan-Pereira, Brian To’o, Jacob Kiraz, Will Warbrick, Zac Lomax
Verdict: What a revelation Lomax was this year after his highly publicised switch to the wing. It culminated in an Origin debut and an Australian jersey awaits. To’o continues to be the game’s best metre eater and narrowly edged out Kiraz for the spot.
CENTRES OF THE YEAR
Winners: Stephen Crichton, Herbie Farnworth
Nominees: Herbie Farnworth, Jesse Ramien, Kotoni Staggs, Stephen Crichton, Valentine Holmes
Verdict: Both players made big money switches to new clubs and they were an instant success. Crichton was a clear winner while Farnworth made an immediate impact at the Dolphins.
FIVE-EIGHTH OF THE YEAR
Winner: Tom Dearden
Nominees: Jarome Luai, Matt Burton, Tom Dearden
Verdict: Edged out Luai. Dearden was super consistent this season and had a few headline moments particularly defensively. Luai was also one of the game’s best and this one would have been close.
HALFBACK OF THE YEAR
Winner: Jahrome Hughes
Nominees: Ben Hunt, Daly-Cherry-Evans, Jahrome Hughes
Verdict: No doubt on this one with Hughes the game’s best halfback in 2024. Beat out a couple of veterans but this was the easiest award to give out.
HOOKER OF THE YEAR
Winner: Harry Grant
Nominees: Blayke Brailey, Harry Grant, Reece Robson
Verdict: After a slow start to the season, Grant has sprung back to life in the second half of the year. His form post Origin has seen him reclaim his mantle as the NRL’s best hooker.
PROPS OF THE YEAR
Winners: Addin Fonua-Blake, Joseph Tapine
Nominees: Addin Fonua-Blake, James Fisher-Harris, Joseph Tapine, Lindsay Collins, Moses Leota
Verdict: They carried struggling clubs on their shoulders. Fonua -Blake had a patchy start to the season and was stood-down for disciplinary reasons but was still an elite player. Tapine was the most consistent prop in the game.
SECOND ROWERS OF THE YEAR
Winners: Angus Crichton, Eliesa Katoa
Nominees: Angus Crichton, Eliesa Katoa, Hudson Young, Jaydn Su’A, Viliame Kikau
Verdict: What a rise for these two players. Crichton was playing NSW Cup at the start of the year while Katoa has been unearthed as one of the game’s most improved.
LOCK OF THE YEAR
Winner: Isaah Yeo
Nominees: Isaah Yeo, Patrick Carrigan, Reuben Cotter
Verdict: Mr Consistent who has again played big minutes, lots of matches and maintained a strong workrate. There is no better link man in the middle of the field.
