Fresh off rolling out their sleek all-black kit, the Brisbane Broncos could be set to undergo another dramatic change.

The Broncos appear to be lining up their first logo change in 25 years after submitting a new design for trademark protection last week.

A simplified design depicts a horse head with a swooshing neck design, however it does not have either the words Brisbane or Broncos accompanying it.

The Broncos submitted a black-and-white version for approval, but have plans to incorporate their traditional colours palette into the logo, which could be introduced as soon as next season.

2026 marks the 20-year anniversary since the Broncos’ last premiership victory, and a new logo could be used to usher in a new era.

A Broncos spokesperson confirmed the application but the club would not go into detail on the plans for the potential change.

“A newly created corporate design was recently submitted to IP Australia,” a Broncos spokesperson said.

“The design has not been approved, accepted or registered at this point.”

The IP Australia website lists the design as an “application being considered” after it was filed last Wednesday, just 72 hours before the Broncos wore an all-black kit in their 44-14 demolition of southeast Queensland rivals the Gold Coast.

The Broncos partnered up with the Black Dog Institute and wore the strip for their dedicated Metal Health Round.

The club has had just two logos in their 37-year history — the iconic bucking Bronco that marked their entry into the then-NSWRL competition, and the current horse-head motif that was introduced in 2000, the year they won their fourth premiership (fifth including Super League).
