Global Nitro Circus superstar Travis Pastrana is Sydney-bound next year to compete in Australia’s inaugural Race of Champions, which brings together the world’s finest drivers across multiple forms of motorsport.

Pastrana, a YouTube sensation who has five million Instagram followers and a net worth of $25 million, is revered for his edgy stunts as part of the popular X Games series.

The 41-year-old American, who in a crazy stunt in 2007 jumped out of a plane without a parachute before latching onto another jumper, became the youngest freestyle motocross world champion at the age of 14 and stunned the X Games by becoming the first rider ever to nail a double backflip.

At Sydney’s Accor Stadium from March 7-8, Pastrana will showcase his versatility when he takes on the best from Formula 1, Le Mans and the V8 Supercars in the prestigious Race of Champions event.

The stint star will compete for the USA against the likes of former F1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel and seven-time Superstars champion Jamie Whincup.

Pastrana will be making his 10th Race Of Champions appearance and has his sights set on his first Champion of Champions title to add to his incredible list of career achievements.

“I have some unfinished business and I would love nothing more than to win my first Champion of Champions title and help Team USA win the ROC Nations Cup in Australia, which is almost like a second home to me,” Pastrana said.

“I would like to think we will have a serious shot at finally winning the Nations Cup for Team USA after coming close several times.”

The YouTube sensation is regarded as one of the most versatile competitors in world sports and will make up one of half of Team USA with his teammate set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Pastrana has won 11 X Games gold medals in a range of disciplines including motocross, supercross, freestyle motocross, rallying and offshore powerboat racing.

He is a six-time Rally America champion, won the first Nitro Rallycoss Title in 2021 and has also competed in Global Rallycross, Monster Jam and NASCAR.

But few acts can top his insane act in Puerto Rico in 2007 when Pastrana jumped out of an aeroplane without a parachute in a carefully choreographed stunt and then latched himself into a harness of another jumper mid-air to make a safe tandem landing.

Pastrana idolised legendary stuntman Evel Knievel and paid tribute to his boyhood hero in Las Vegas in 2018 by breaking a few of his motorcycle jump records, including 45m over Caesar’s Palace Fountain - a jump that Knievel was unable to land in 1967.

The Race Of Champions will run over two nights with a purpose built 1km tarmac track taking centre stage at Accor Stadium.
