TRIPLE world champion Sebastian Vettel will start from pole position in the Australian Grand Prix after mastering tricky conditions at Albert Part this morning.
With the final two segments of qualifying held this morning due to heavy rain in Melbourne yesterday, it is the Red Bull pairing of Vettel and Australian Mark Webber who will start from the front row this afternoon.
It gives the veteran Webber a great chance to claim his home grand prix for the first time, with the race to the first corner on the Albert Park circuit set to be pivotal.
It is Vettel, who was also fastest in practice on Friday, who is clearly the man to beat though as he has held a slight edge in speed under all conditions.
Former world champion Lewis Hamilton will start directly behind the Red Bull pair with the Ferrari duo of Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso posting the fourth and fifth fastest times.
The other Australian, Daniel Ricciardo, will begin from 14 in his Toro Rosso.
While not as wet as Saturday night, teams were forced to gamble on tyre changes through qualifying as the track began to dry, with Jenson Button among those to lose traction.
The race will commence at 5.00pm on Sunday.
