Jacquelin Magnay was awarded the Harry Gordon Memorial Award for Olympic Journalism at the AGM.
Judges said Magnay’s entry, a story about aerial skier Lydia Lassila, captured the loneliness and heartache of the ending of a very special Olympic career.
Lassila retired after the PyeongChang Winter Olympics and Magnay stayed on the icy mountain with her for several hours after her final jump. The judges said: “It was surely with frozen fingers that she wrote her evocative story. It was stay-late sports journalism of high quality.’’
