Trainer Ryan Balfour stood down after blowing more than 0.05 at the races
Adelaide trainer Ryan Balfour blew more than 0.05 after saddling a horse at the Morphettville races on Saturday, stewards have revealed.
Trainer Ryan Balfour was stood down from handling horses after he was breath-tested at Saturday’s Morphettville meeting.
In their stewards report, Racing SA stewards stated: “After saddling Canford in Race 4, trainer Ryan Balfour was directed to provide a breath sample which detected a banned substance, namely alcohol at a concentration in excess of 0.05 as stipulated by AR137(d).”
“As a consequence, Mr Balfour was stood down from horse handling until he was able to provide a sample free of any banned substance under AR137(1).
“An inquiry into this matter will be heard at a date and time to be fixed.”
Race 4 was run at 2.02pm local time.
