QUIRINDI TIPS
BEST BET
Race 6 No.1 CUMBOOGLE: Won 6 races altogether and is on a hat-trick today.
NEXT BEST
Race 4 No.6 PERASTA: Been costly but surely this is his best chance for an overdue win.
VALUE
Race 5 No.9 BADBOY MCCOY: Can really launch late when in the mood.
QUADDIE
Race 4: 6,8
Race 5: 6,9
Race 6: 1,10
Race 7: 6,7,9
JOCKEY TO FOLLOW
Ben Looker is on 1,299 wins and 2,300 placings ahead of today’s meeting.
QUIRINDI INSIDE MAIL
PERASTA (6) is trained by Paul Perry who also trained this horse’s father (Perast), mother (Wilful) and her grandfather, none other than the great Choisir. If you know Perasta, you’ll agree that it is approaching ‘staggering’ that he is still a maiden after 12 starts. That said, he has placed four times and has Aaron Bullock here in the easiest race he’s run in. CLOSETOTHINKITOVER (8) ran way, way above her $81 SP on debut at Scone on Dec 18. Resumes here and certainly won’t be a maiden for long.
BET: PERASTA (6) win quinella 6,8, box trifecta 6,8,14,17.
BADBOY MCCOY (9) has raced 60 times for 7 wins and 12 placings, 6 of them seconds. The Jan Bowen trained gelding (as he is prone to do) finished right over the top of them to win at home at Muswellbrook on March 28 prior to his ‘not too bad’ ninth of 14 at Scone on April 14. This is well within his range. FINGER BUN (5)’s two wins are both at 1900m so with that in mind, it was no surprise to see her hitting the line with real purpose at Armidale over 1300m first-up.
BET: BADBOY MCCOY (9) to win, quinella 5,9, Daily Double 1st Leg 9, 2nd Leg 9.
CUMBOOGLE (1) has won 6 races and placed 4 times in his 26 starts, thanks to his own talent and some nifty placement by trainer Brett Thompson. Cumboogle won a Benchmark 66 over 900m first-up (easily) then dropped back to a 58 at Orange and won that too, this time with 60kg. Big weight again but drawn well and is obviously in great nick. RANHITA (10) has won 1 from 30 but she is just the type who could blouse them all late today.
BET: CUMBOOGLE (1) to win, RANHITA (10) to place, exacta 1 to beat 10.
NOT IN DOUBT (9) is a sparingly-raced five-year-old whose C.V reads; 9 starts for 2 wins, a second and a third. Just for the record, one of those seconds was behind Helcibell. On top of that, she was third in a really strong Class 2 on April 1 and has trialled (super) since. ARCHAIC FORCE (7), the son of NZ Oaks winner Bramble Rose, has a touch of quality. He’ll make it to a higher level it seems. Just needs some luck from a wide draw – again!
BET: NOT IN DOUBT (9) to win, box First 4 Nos. 2,3,6,7,9.

NARROMINE TIPS
BEST BET
Race 1 No.4 MISSY MOSS: Sets up well here at 1300m after last run at 1200m.
NEXT BEST
Race 3 No.9 IMASTATEMENT: Speedy type drawn one in the ideal race. Has talent.
VALUE
Race 2 No.8 HE’STHECHIEF: Drawn well, sent out good signs on debut.
NARROMINE INSIDE MAIL
HIDEYO (10) is a former Kris Lees-trained galloper, still owned by Australian Bloodstock, but now with Todd Howlett. Her past five runs have been under Howlett’s management, the most recent a length third in a 14-horse 1600m race at Dubbo. The 1600m is her best trip. This is a beautiful race for her. Ditto that last bit vis-a-vis GREEN PINEAPPLE (2) who is absolutely ripe for 1600m third-up off a closing third over 1400m at Orange.
BET: HIDEYO (10) win, exacta 10 to beat 2, quinella 2, 10, box trifecta 2, 4, 6, 10.
RACE 5: Narromine USMC Diggers Cup (1300m)
POWER BEAU (7) has 4 wins and 5 placings in his 13 runs for Wayne Brown. Ran a huge race in the Country Championships Heat three runs ago and, as for last start, he was a half-length off winning a Newcastle Benchmark 68. PLENITUDE (13) ran a really good race in a Highway back on Five Diamonds day. Fast forward to the present and he was fourth to Gallant Star in the WRA Country Championships Qualifier.
BET: POWER BEAU (7) win, quinella 7, 13, Daily Double 1st Leg 7, 2nd Leg 4.
RACE 6: Country Boosted Benchmark 58 (1100m)
NEVERMISTA (15), a son of Mark Minervini’s bonny mare Vormista, has a win, a second and a third in his six career starts for Scone trained Simon Casey. He looked a good thing on paper first-up at Tamworth and won with a fair bit of authority. DUSTY VERMEER (6) is a similarly lightly-raced horse and a last start winner as it happens. Has run in two uncommonly strong Maidens at his last two, second in one, won the other.
BET: NEVERMISTA (15) to win or if scratched DUSTY VERMEER (6) to win.
PODCAST (4) raced four times for trainer Chris Waller. Three of them were underwhelming but he managed a 15500m maiden win at the Sunshine Coast two days after Christmas. His first and only run so far for Dar Lunn was an outstanding third at Dubbo when ninth of 12 at the 400m. That was 1200m; this is 1300m. EILRAHC (14) has only won one race in 15 starts but he has placed six times and five of them were seconds. This is bang on his trip.
BET: PODCAST (4) win, quinella 4, 14.
