NEWCASTLE BEAUMONT TIPS
BEST BET
Race 5 No.11 STILL EXCITED: Daughter of a Galaxy winner whose debut was better than it reads.
NEXT BEST
Race 6 No.14 NAUGHTY NURSE: Bred to get better each preparation and that seems to be happening.
VALUE
Race 4 No.8 SIR FREDDIE: Didn’t have much luck at Muswellbrook 10-days ago.
QUADDIE
Race 4: 2,3,8,9
Race 5: 11
Race 6: 14
Race 7: 4,10,11,14
JOCKEY TO FOLLOW
Dylan Gibbons is back riding today after an injury enforced absence
SIR FREDDIE (8) counts a Highway win among his tally of three. Granted that is from 32 starts but he is often a victim of his pattern and outside circumstances. That was the case at Muswellbrook 10-days ago where he drew wide and was never really free to let down. YOU HAVE TO GO (9) is one from 18 but like Sir Freddie, perhaps far more so, this horse has to be left alone early so he can get going late.
BET: SIR FREDDIE (8) each-way, You Have to Go each-way.
RACE 5: Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate (1150m)
STILL EXCITED (11) is trained by David Pfieffer who won a Galaxy with the dam, I Am Excited. In fact, she (I Am Excited) won Group races in three States. Still Excited was her first foal, her second is Farcited who ran in the Slipper last Saturday. As for this one, she was a hundred times better on debut than it looks. DEEP EMOTION (6) and LOVE AND LIGHT (2) are both trialling well in town.
BET: STILL EXCITED (11) to win (best bet), Daily Double 1st Leg (11), 2nd Leg (11).
RACE 6: Class 1 Handicap (1200m)
NAUGHTY NURSE (14) combines the speed of her Galaxy winning sire, Russian Revolution, with the stamina of her dam, Nurse Kitchen, a Savabeel who won the Moonee Valley Fillies Classic and was runner-up in the Vinery. Kris Lees had Nurse Kitchen for the back end of her career; he also trains Naughty Nurse who went out on a win and trialling well. GONE TO CAPE YORK (5) was talented and tough enough to win a good quality maiden on debut at Nowra.
BET: NAUGHTY NURSE (14) to win, exacta 14 to beat 5, quinella 5,14.
TULIPWOOD (11) was given a perfect ride by Grant Buckley to win at Dubbo in that 1300m Super Maiden on March 7. Notable that horse drew 2 of 12 that day compared to something potentially in double figures this time but there’s a sense that she might be one on an upward trajectory. JUST JACKY (14) is 5 from 47 but one from one at the track and distance. GOLDEN HONOUR (4) is an incredibly consistent racehorse from an incredibly consistent barn.
BET: TULIPWOOD (11) to win, JUST JACKY (14) each-way.

COFFS HARBOUR TIPS
BEST BET
Race 5 No.11 MONTE TIANA: Lighty-raced impressive last-start winner.
NEXT BEST
Race 2 No.7 SWEET MARLENE: Ready and able to win; drawn well, in an ideal race.
VALUE
Race 1 No.3 PRIDE OF GLASGOW: Resumes here at home from a good alley of a smart trial.
SECRET KEEPER (5) is a son of Newhaven Park’s resident dual Group 1 winner Xtravagant having his third start under the (new) management of Aiden St Vincent today. He won first time out for the Coffs conditioner off nearly a year away then backed it up with a solid on-pace third at Grafton. Kris Lees-trained gelding ENTERPRISE PRIVATE (2) was 9th of 10 at Port first-up but only beaten a diminishing three and a half-lengths.
BET: SECRET KEEPER (5), ENTERPRISE PRIVATE (2) each-way, quinella 2,5.
MONTE TIANA (11) is trained here on course by Noel Mayfield-Smith. He hasn’t always had her but he had her for that last start win at Port. That was her first win but she was building up to it big time and it was rather impressive too. Needs to stay on the better side of Soft perhaps. SHOWMAN (3) has way more ability than a horse that has only won twice in 24 starts. Pitched in this race after the claim for Jett Newman.
BET: MONTE TIANA (11) to win (best bet, unless Heavy), quinella 3,11, DD 1st Leg (11), 2nd Leg (2).
MISCHIEVOUS MOLLY (11) has raced 12 times for two wins, five seconds and a third. She lost the rider at one of them, so let’s make that 11 starts etc, etc. As for her most recent outing, that was a win at home at Taree with 54.5 kgs after the claim. She goes around with 58 kgs now but ‘Gibbo’ is more or less, her regular rider. MONTE OUTLANDER (10) is a ‘Highway horse’ according to his trainer but sadly his life has been all about bad draws and /or wet tracks.
BET: MISCHIEVOUS MOLLY (11) to win.
RACE 7: Class 3 Handicap (1205m)
KING LARRY (2) was bred by his trainer Wayne Wilkes. He is by that very underrated Taree-based stallion, Sebring’s Sun. ‘Larry’s’ fourth dam, for those interested in such things, is Electrique, who won the Flight and Vinery Stakes for Bill Mitchell. King Larry has done very little wrong. Unless he wins too many too quickly which is likely, there is/was a Highway with his name on it. STARRY JACK (1) has been tremendously reliable for Brett Dodson. Drawn wide but if it is wet, it is probably a gun draw.
BET: KING LARRY (2) to win.
