Richard and Chantelle Jolly aiming to upset interstate raiders in Dequetteville and Nitschke Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday
Richard and Chantelle Jolly lead the locals’ hopes of beating a strong Victorian challenge in the Dequetteville and Nitschke Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday.
Victorian trainers have a stranglehold on the market for Saturday’s Listed Dequetteville and Nitschke Stakes at Morphettville, but Adelaide trainer Richard Jolly is hoping to send them home empty-handed.
Five of the top six in betting are Victorian raiders for the Dequetteville Stakes (1000m) for two-year-old fillies, with Jolly’s Artistic Angel splitting them at $6.50 (Sportsbet).

The daughter of Flying Artie was runner-up in last month’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Murray Bridge, and has been placed aggressively by Jolly, as the filly prepares for a third feature tilt in as many starts after a debut run in the Cinderella Stakes.
“She’s a nice filly, real speedy, she’s ran well in both her runs,” Jolly, who trains in partnership with daughter, Chantelle, said.
“Her first start she blew out a bit after one jumpout. We weren’t disappointed with her and she backed that up with a good run in the Magic Millions – back to the 1000m suits her.
“She’s very professional and she’ll run well. She’s always shown us a bit, she’ll be even better next prep – she still looks a bit immature.”

The talented filly has in-form hoop Jake Toeroek aboard, fresh off a treble at Morphettville last Saturday.
Stablemate Kisses Forever is also an acceptor for the Dequetteville, but is unlikely to run due to a wide barrier (11).
The filly is a chance to run in the Listed Without Fear Stakes over 1050m next Saturday.
Jolly saddles up dominant last-start winner All Too Mysti ($18) in the Nitschke Stakes (1400m), for three-year-olds, where the top-four market fancies also cross the border from Victoria.
The All Too Hard filly, who has had five starts, broke through for a deserved maiden win on the Parks circuit first-up and will be steered by SA expat hoop Will Price.
“She always had the ability, but the first prep, she probably beat herself a couple of times,” he said.
“She just did things wrong, overraced, just through a bit of greenness, she shouldn’t have gone out a maiden.
“She’s come back and really improved with more maturity. She’s there to run a race Saturday, I’m really confident that she will acquit herself well, she’s up in grade but I think she’s well up to it.”

Honest gelding Klabel ($15) will represent the Jolly team at Caulfield on Saturday, tackling the Group 3 Victoria Handicap (1400m).
“You can’t fault his consistency, it’s a hard race, he’s drawn a good gate and got a light weight,” Jolly said.
“He’s the kind of horse that puts himself there and holds a spot, he can race up on the speed which gives him a better chance as well.
“He’s a chance in a hard race.”
