Post-race jockey reports from the 2025 Vinery Stud Stakes
This is what the jockeys had to say after the running of the Vinery Stud Stakes at Rosehill on Tuesday.
Star Victorian filly Treasurethe Moment further enhanced her reputation with a dominant victory in the Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill on Thursday.
The win extended the unbeaten run of the Matt Laurie-trained three-year-old to seven and it was her second Group 1 success. She has also won three Group 2 races.
Treasurethe Moment race up near the speed before striding to the front in the straight and repelling another Victorian Benagil with Declichy Boulevarde in third.

The daughter of Alabama Express was ridden to victory by Damian Lane and the win saw her career earnings rise to more than $1.85 million.
Treasurethe Moment is raced by powerhouse racing and breeding operation Yu Long Investments which stands Alabama Express.
This is what the riders thought of their mount’s performance in the Vinery Stud Stakes.
1st - TREASURETHE MOMENT (Damian Lane) She’s very uncomplicated. She went to the barriers well and she has trained on her Sydney leg. The race worked out well. She didn’t love the heavy ground but because she’s so honest she just kept on keeping on. On the softer ground she didn’t quicken as well as what she normally would but she’s so honest and I think she’ll handle whatever you throw at her. She’ll excel, though, on firm ground.
2nd - BENAGIL (Tim Clark) She ran terrific. Presented like she was going to challenge the winner but they were a bit stronger than her late. Great effort from her.
3rd - DECLICHY BOULEVARD (Nash Rawiller) It was a bit of a train wreck early. She had a bee in her bonnet. Got into a beautiful rhythm mid-race. To her credit she stuck on quite well.
4th - VERONA ROSE (Kerrin McEvoy) She was really pleasing there. First time out to 2000m. She got through that ground OK without saying she loved it. She can go to the Oaks and hopefully get better ground and run a great race.
5th - CANNY QUEEN (Tyler Schiller) I was rapt with her. She probably had the soft draw of the field. She did a great job to keep finding the line like that.
6th - REAL CLASS (Tommy Berry) Just those races with no speed and no pressure haven’t suited her here. I think backing off a little bit. I know Chris would like to take her to Queensland. Bigger sized fields and more pressure she will be a lot more at home.
7th - ELLA HAZEL (Joshua Parr) She has incredible stamina this horse. Just needs to learn how to race. She is quite blaze. She will get there.
8th - POWERS OF OPAL (Tom Marquand) I was in that four deep line early. Just waiting for someone to go and no-one went. I thought I would see what we could do from the front. Just not her style. She didn’t enjoy it.
9th - MOVIN OUT (Zac Lloyd) Unfortunately no tempo. Got the spot we wanted. Just needed a lot more tempo than that. I thought for a couple of strides we were in strife. Can’t finish off the race over ten furlongs if she pulls that hard.
