Jimmysstar produced a finish his rivals were unable to withstand in the $1.5 million Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Jimmysstar came from a midfield position, pushing out of a pocket in the home straight to storm clear and defeat Joliestar with Sunshine In Paris in third.

The favourite Briasa hit the front in the straight but failed to run out the trip and finished fourth.

Jimmysstar’s win was his ninth from 18 starts and took his earnings to more than $2.1 million.

The five-year-old gelding by Per Incanto (USA) was ridden by Ethan Brown who claimed his third Group 1 success for 2025.

This is what the riders thought of their mount’s performance in the All Aged Stakes.

1st - JIMMYSSTAR (Ethan Brown) He needed a cool ride today. Sometimes it doesn’t always go our way being a backmarker. We were able to get in front of Antino. That was one box ticked and then it was just holding it together and looking for a gap. He was able to clove through and when he hits top gear, there’s not many other horses that can go that quick.

2nd - JOLIESTAR (Zac Lloyd) She was fantastic. Just worked with her once we got cover. The pace came out of the race. Very gallant effort. Felt the winner on the bend.

3rd - SUNSHINE IN PARIS (Chad Schofield) Unfortunately the draw cost her again today. She went super.

4th - BRIASA (Tyler Schiller) I thought he tried his darndest. Probably was a little fierce early. Relaxed nicely in the mid-stages. Quickened up well but probably didn’t see the 1400m out as stong as we would have hoped.

5th - BENEDETTA (Jamie Melham) Once again unlucky. Poor thing she never gets much luck in her races. Got tightened up late and didn’t get a clear run.

6th - BELCLARE (Rachel King) Really pleased with her. Six weeks between runs but thrown in the deep end and she ran really well.

7th - MAGIC TIME (Jordan Childs) She ran well. Probably got ended up further back than we planned. She hit the line nicely.

8th - DESERT LIGHTNING (Tommy Berry) He has run really well. He was a little fresh early in the race. Got into a nice rhythm. Felt the pinch the last furlong. First up 1400m so will improve a lot from that.

9th - OSIPENKO (Tim Clark) Obviously short of his best. Nice return. Probably worth following up through Queensland.

10th - BROADSIDING (James McDonald) He has done a marvellous job. He has had a good preparation. I reckon I rode him a fraction out of his comfort zone and that told the last little bit. Reckon if I rode him a little bit quieter, he would have been in the finish. He’s done a really good job. Has been a super horse to be apart of.

11th - ANTINO (Mark Zahra) Just never travelled inside other horses.

12th - MY OBERON (Joshua Parr) His prep is underway now. I found him in nice shape.

13th - GRAIL SEEKER (Jason Collett) She didn’t step, over-raced. Just did a lot wrong today.

14th - KIMOCHI (Nash Rawiller) Rode him like a 3kg (apprentice).
