Pallaton made an impressive starts to his career and trainer Michael Freedman has his next rising young star ready to roll
Trainer Michael Freedman is looking to make it consecutive Saturday two-year-old wins when he saddles up Apocalyptic at Randwick.
Apocalyptic is the latest promising two-year-old to roll off the Michael Freedman stable’s juvenile production line at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Just a week after stablemate Pallaton made a brilliant winning debut on the same track, Apocalyptic goes to the races for the first time in the Petaluma Handicap (1100m).
A $400,000 Magic Millions Yearling Sale graduate, Apocalyptic has impressed at both her recent barrier trials including an easy win at Hawkesbury last week.

“Apocalyptic is a very nice filly,” Freedman said.
“We gave her a soft trial at Canterbury then I thought she was very good at Hawkesbury.
“This is a strong two-year-old race, probably stronger than I expected with a few of them coming out of the Wyong Magic Millions.
“There’s the Magic Millions favourite Memo, plus Tempestuous and O’ Ole are both in the market, so this will give us a good guide on our filly.
“They have race experience and a bit of fitness on their side but I think she can acquit herself well.”

TAB Fixed Odds price assessors are taking no risks with the Freedman filly and have her at $7 in latest betting behind Memo at $2.60 favouritism.
Freedman, a renowned trainer of two-year-olds, revealed that Pallaton has been sent for a spell after his Randwick win last Saturday which was so impressive he was elevated to the top line of Golden Slipper betting at $15 alongside Bel Merci and West Of Swindon.
“Pallaton pulled up really well after last Saturday,” said Freedman, who trained Stay Inside to win the 2021 Golden Slipper.
“But I sent him out to the paddock last Monday and he will have a couple of weeks off.
“We will most likely head towards running first-up in the Silver Slipper on February 22. He will probably have a barrier trial in late January or early February and we will go from there.”
