Champion jockey Damien Oliver ranks his Top 10 Group 1 wins in his glittering career

Legendary jockey Damien Oliver will grace the turf for the last time at Ascot on Saturday.

“The GOAT” has won more Group 1s in Australia — 128 — than anyone in our history.

In a glittering career filled with highlights, Oliver ranked his Top 10 Group 1 wins.

Relive Ollie’s favourite moments on the track.

1. DORIEMUS — 1995 MELBOURNE CUP

In horrendous conditions, Oliver drove home Doriemus to win for Lee Freedman. This was the moment Australians fell in love with the boy from Western Australia.

2. NORTHERLY — 2001 COX PLATE

A famous Cox Plate. Northerly and Oliver had to survive a double protest from Sunline and Viscount to hold onto the race.

3. MEDIA PUZZLE — 2002 MELBOURNE CUP

Oliver’s most iconic win. He won the race only days after his brother Jason was killed in a racing accident in Perth.

4. MANNERISM — 1992 CAULFIELD CUP

A controversial win after Shane Dye took a wide path on Veandercross in the straight. Oliver drove the mare home in a tight photo finish.

5. FIORENTE — 2013 MELBOURNE CUP

Oliver landed Gai Waterhouse’s first Melbourne Cup with the former European galloper.

6. ALINGHI — 2004 BLUE DIAMOND

A champion filly who charged home from the back to win a memorable Blue Diamond.

7. TESTA ROSSA — 2000 LIGHTNING STAKES

One of Oliver’s favourite horses who destroyed them over 1000m down the straight.

8. PARIS LANE — 1994 CAULFIELD CUP

Oliver’s second Caulfield Cup. The Freedman-trained galloper blitzed the field.

9. ANAMOE — 2021 CAULFIELD GUINEAS

Superstar three-year-old who Oliver got home from barrier 13.

10. SKY HEIGHTS — 1999 CAULFIELD CUP

Oliver’s fourth and final Caulfield Cup winner. The GOAT lifted the $3.50 favourite home in the final 100m.
