Black Caviar, unbeaten in race 25 starts and ranked the world's best sprinter, is in foal. It took two visits to equine lothario Exceed And Excel but she has tested positive to being in the family way.
Breeder Rick Jamieson, who owns Black Caviar's dam Helsinge, made the announcement in Nagambie this morning where a life-sized brass statue of the champion mare in full flight with the mare's regular race rider Luke Nolen in the saddle was unveiled.
Exceed And Excel, who shuttles between Australia and the UK for Sheikh Mohammed's Darley operation, is the sire of this year's Golden Slipper-winning two-year-old Overreach.
Black Caviar failed to get in foal at her first covering and was sent back to Exceed And Excel last month.
The much-anticipated foal will be born next spring. Black Caviar's owners are keen to race the mare’s first born.
