It’s on — two of the greatest players in world football will face each other in Australia in June.
As revealed exclusively in The Australian on December 13, Argentine superstar Lionel Messi and Brazilian dynamo Neymar are set to thrill fans in Australia when Brazil play Argentina at the MCG on June 9.
The Victorian government will announce details of the game at a media conference this morning.
The match is certain to attract close to 100,000 spectators, breaking the previous record for a soccer match at the G set several years ago when the storied English club Liverpool played Melbourne Victory in front of 95,000.
Messi and Neymar are teammates at Spanish giants Barcelona, but have played against each other a number of times at international level.
Both are among the top-five highest paid footballers in the world and have huge followings around the globe.
Between them they have won many titles as well as seven World Cups.
Alongside Real Madrid and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronald, Messi is regarded as the world’s best player.
