Marco Kurz to be marched from Adelaide United
Adelaide United coach Marco Kurz is understood to have been told he’ll be shown the door in June.
Adelaide United coach Marco Kurz is understood to have been told he won’t be offered a fresh deal when his contract with the A-League club expires in June.
Kurz has met with club chairman Piet van der Pol, who is believed to have told the German his tenure at United will soon end.
Kurz has coached Adelaide for two seasons and won the FFA Cup trophy last October.
But the 49-year-old has been increasingly at loggerheads with club hierarchy this season.
Kurz has been frustrated at a perceived lack of funding to recruit players and also substandard conditions at the club’s northern Adelaide headquarters, which has forced him to move training elsewhere.
Kurz had sought clarity about his future since late February but did not receive a response from van der Pol until after a media conference last Thursday.
“I’m still waiting for him to contact me, as promised,” Kurz told reporters on Thursday.
“I left him a message four weeks ago … and I am still waiting for a call back. “I have a lot of points to discuss with him. Not only my personal future … I want to know what is the long term goal for the club.”
Van der Pol contacted Kurz after his media conference and agreed to meet with the coach on Monday.
Kurz had been linked with the vacant Brisbane coaching role but last week denied he had held any talks with the Roar.
