Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler successful in wrongful dismissal claim against Brisbane Roar
Brisbane Roar must pay Robbie Fowler a six-figure sum after being found by FIFA to have wrongfully sacked him.
Robbie Fowler has been successful in his case against Brisbane Roar for wrongful dismissal, with the three-time A-League champions having been ordered to pay the Liverpool legend a six-figure sum.
Former Roar coach Fowler’s contract was terminated by the Roar in late June during the A-League’s COVID-enforced suspension after comments he made in a television interview which the club believed damaged its reputation worldwide.
Both Fowler and his assistant coach Tony Grant, who was also sacked by the Roar, took their cases to FIFA’s dispute resolution chamber.
Fowler’s lawyer Darren Kane on Monday confirmed reports that Fowler and Grant had won their cases, with the Roar having to pay each of them three months of wages.
The three-month period is the time Fowler and Grant were out of work until they were hired in late September by Indian Super League club East Bengal.

Kane also confirmed that Fowler would donate the most of the money from his claim to charity.
It’s understood that Roar have until late December to pay Fowler and Grant the money they been successful in claiming.
Roar vice chairman Chris Fong and the club’s CEO David Pourre did not return phone calls to News Corp Australia on Monday.
