Dele Alli: Tottenham star hit by bottle during League Cup win over Arsenal
Tottenham earns League Cup semi spot with 2-0 win over Arsenal as security attempts to locate fan who threw bottle at Dele Alli.
Tottenham Hotspur gained revenge over north-London rivals Arsenal as goals by Son Heung-min and Dele Alli earned a 2-0 victory this morning to put them into the League Cup semi-finals.
Seventeen days after losing 4-2 in a pulsating Premier League clash, in-form Tottenham returned to the Emirates to gain their first away victory over Arsenal in eight years.
Son opened the scoring against the run of play with a stylish 24th-minute effort and Alli’s superb second on the hour proved enough for Tottenham to progress to the last four.
Arsenal were left to rue several wasted opportunities with Henrikh Mkhitaryan guilty in the first half, while the hosts also struck the woodwork on a couple of occasions.
Tottenham are looking to win their first silverware under manager Mauricio Pochettino and their first since 2008 when they lifted the League Cup by beating Chelsea in the final.
Arsenal are analysing CCTV in a bid to identify the supporter who threw a bottle at Tottenham’s Alli.

He was struck on the head by a plastic bottle in the second half of Spurs’ 2-0 win.
When asked about the incident, Alli told Sky Sports: “It is what it is. It made the goal a little bit sweeter and the win.
“I think when we came here last time we didn’t get the result we wanted so we knew how important it was today.
“It was a big test for us and I think it was a strong performance from us.”
The bottle-throwing incident comes after a banana skin was thrown at Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during the Gunners’ EPL win over Spurs earlier this month.
At Stamford Bridge, hosts Chelsea completed the semi-final lineup with a 1-0 win over Bournemouth. Substitute Eden Hazard scored the only goal of the game six minutes from time as the Blues joined Spurs, holders Manchester City and League One side Burton Albion in the last four.
Tottenham will meet Chelsea in the first semi-final, while City take on Burton Albion. The two-legged ties will be played in the weeks of January 7 and January 21.
