Australia’s brightest young footballing prospect, Daniel Arzani, has secured a move to Manchester City.
The 19-year-old featured in just one A-League season for Melbourne City before being snapped up by the City Group parent club, and is expected to be immediately loaned out to Scottish champions Celtic where he will link up with Socceroos teammate Tom Rogic.
After becoming a mainstay of Warren Joyce’s side during the 2017/18 A-League campaign, Arzani’s stocks soared when he featured off the bench in all three of Australia’s 2018 World Cup fixtures, the youngest player to appear at the showpiece event.
Following the path to Europe set out by Huddersfield ace Aaron Mooy in 2016, Arzani said a move abroad was always a “dream” he had, adding he believes it’s the right time in his career to head to Europe.
“When I first came to this club I had ambitions of playing overseas,” Arzani said.
“The last six-to-seven months have been an absolute rollercoaster, I’ve been very pleased with how everything’s worked out.”
Arzani’s loan move to Celtic Park is expected to be finalised in the coming days.
