Asian Cup blow as Aaron Mooy ruled out of action
Socceroos ace Aaron Mooy has been ruled out for up to six weeks, injured against Arsenal, with Tom Rogic also in doubt.
Australia’s Asian Cup hopes have suffered a huge blow with midfielder Aaron Mooy being ruled out of action for between four to six weeks.
It has also been revealed that Tom Rogic could be in serious doubt, meaning Australia will be without two key players as they bid to retain the Cup they won in 2015.
Sources in England confirmed to The Australian that Mooy injured his medial ligament late in Huddersfield’s 1-0 loss to Arsenal on the weekend.
It is believed he suffered the injury in the 75th minute. Mooy completed the game but was sent for precautionary scans and the news wasn’t good.
Rogic started in Celtic’s 5-1 win over Kilmarnock and had a terrific game. However, he was replaced on 62 minutes.
Rogic has had knee problems this season and was sidelined for a period earlier in the season.
The absence of both players will leave a gaping hole for the Socceroos as both would have been certain starters in the line-up.
