Phil Liggett back for Tour de France

ACCLAIMED broadcaster Phil Liggett again heads SBS TV's coverage of the Tour de France starting in the Vendee region of western France.

INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed broadcaster Phil Liggett again heads-up SBS TV's coverage of the 98th edition of the Tour de France starting in the Vendee region of western France.

Every stage will be televised live as the network celebrates 20 years of covering the race the French call the Grand Boucle.

Liggett, who will also provide an in-depth look at the three week week enduro for The Weekend Australian, starting on Saturday, by former professional cyclist Paul Sherwen.

A former British road race champion, Sherwen divides his time with mining interests in Uganda and joining Liggett at the Tour and other major races for the network.

Melbourne's Matt Keenan, a former elite amateur racer in Europe, will be calling his fifth tour de France.

Former professionals David McKenzie and Scott Sunderland will provide viewers with a daily analysis of each stage.

Michael Tomalaris will host the race stages live from the finish line and present twice daily highlights at 6pm on SBS 1 and again at 8.30pm on SBS 2.
