An all-time great and a man who is lucky to be alive are in, but just one Australian has made my Test team of the year

It is not as if Australia has had a bad year. With just two losses – to the West Indies in Brisbane and India in Perth – from eight matches entering the final game of the year in Melbourne, Australia has had a sound year.

But, with Australia’s light diet of Tests and generally modest batting fare, only Travis Head has made our Test XI with Josh Hazlewood a narrow omission and posted 12th man.
